It has been a while I bought my Phantom 2 Vision Plus Drone, which is actually awesome for making decent videos and photos from the sky. Before that DJI Phantom I owned a Parrot AR Drone 2 which was quite impressive too at that time, but the way you could fly these things was quite hard.
The AR Drone did not respond that well but the Phantom did that job way better, but due to the fact that it was way more powerful than the AR Drone 2 it could get pretty dangerous to fly (although the AR Drone was the one to freak out with no reason all the time) – so I decided pretty quickly to always get out of reach of people and buildings or streets, get an insurance and go easy with it (and you should do that, too!).
All these things take money and effort:
- Buy a Drone for 1200 bucks
- Read the fuckin´ manual
- Read the fuckin´ manual twice
- Get a proper Insurance for around 100 bucks
- Go somewhere with much space and few people & infrastructure (which sometimes does not correspond with the scenes you might wanna film – don´t even think about festivals or stuff without having permissions by some authorities)
If you are just keen on flying a remote controlled verhicle with 4 propellers (commonly known as quadrocopters) there is a much better and way cheaper alternative for that. You might not want to spend 1500,- for the DJI Phantom III to start with flying quadcopters.
The following video is me playing around with the Cheerson CX-10 Quadrocopter after practicing a few days.
It is real fun – I mean REAL FUN.
Almost every male human being that I showed this little quadcopter, did own one 1 or 3 days later (depending on if they had a Prime Account or not).
Right now I own two of them because after around 500 crashes (which is probably an understatement) I thought I might buy a new one for the case I break the first one.
Both of them are alive, but I notice some strange behaviour on both of them as they crashed around infinite times, now.
Still remember: This was an investment of 20 Euros and boy ! They are worth it.
If you do
